This is the most important aspect of the accounting cycle and is closely tied to the billing and collection function. Cash is the life blood of any business and is important to keep the Accounts Receivable cycle shorter than the Accounts Payable cycle. Adequate cash flow has to be maintained in order to meet the obligations of the business and it starts with always having and up to date and accurate Accounts Receivable.
